In October 2015 our son Taylor died suddenly due to complications of an inherited cardiac condition. He was 19 years of age and had his whole life ahead of him.
Sadly at least 12 young people die every single week of previously unknown cardiac conditions. This equates to one from the West of Scotland every seven days. 80% of these people have no previous symptoms and 89% of the deaths were preventable if the deceased had been previously screened.
Together with Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY), we aim to bring screening to our local area. Too many are dying and as responsible citizens we cannot allow one of the 12 to be "one of our own".
